"Land can resemble a human face. It can be miserable and wrinkled with affliction, with a faded look. It can also be pensive, downcast and withdrawn. Or rough. Or haughty and proud. Or it can be entirely different and varied, as different and varied as human faces can only be. But very few lands are there resembling a smile of a young and pensive girl, whose biggest dream is the one of first love. The Cieszyn Land is one of these few. As legends say, it originated in a unique and mysterious way. When the God decided to create it, no words were uttered. He just smiled. And there the land was made – out of the God’s smile". (Cieszyn Land by Gustaw Morcinek)
The Cieszyn Land is full of unique and picturesque places. One of them is nicely located parish of Chybie. Among its characteristic features one can find Goczałkowickie lake, lots of ponds, waterfowl, forests or meadows. The best way to admire the local environment is during bicycle trip. If you watch closely enough, you can see hares, deer, foxes, hedgehogs or hamsters near the forests, and mallards, swans, cormorants, terns, buzzards, finches, tits, as well as frogs, toads, lizards and grass-snakes near the water ponds. One of the most unique things is Rotuz peatbog, where you can find protected insectivorous plant – sundew. Another thing worth seeing is oak alley, including specimen of strong oaks. Roadside shrines help reflection and meditation during long walks.
